The State University of New York at Potsdam recognized more than 1,000 candidates for graduation during the College's 2015 Commencement celebrations. SUNY Potsdam honored students who either earned their degree or were eligible to graduate between December 2014 and December 2015.

Buffalo State Honors EOP Student Achievement

Buffalo State held its 45th annual Arthur O. Eve Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Honors Convocation on May 7. The convocation recognizes students who have achieved a 3.0 GPA during the spring or fall 2014 semester as well as students who have a cumulative 3.0 GPA.

26 Students Elected to Student Association Positions

A total of 26 students were elected earlier this month to Student Association positions for the 2015-2016 academic year. Students are elected to Student Association positions by their peers in the student body. Elections for executive board positions were held April 9-10, and senators and associate judicial officers were elected April 16-17.

117 Students Attend 2015 Harvey Delaney Leadership Institute

More than 100 students attended the 28th Annual Harvey Delaney Leadership Institute from March 27-28 in the Hunt College Union. Designed to provide students with the tools to translate the leadership skills they have developed at Oneonta into skills that will benefit them in the workplace and/or graduate school, the program includes educational sessions, meals, a keynote speaker, and more than a dozen break-out sessions. It is named for former SUNY Oneonta Director of Activities and Student Association advisor Harvey Delaney, who chaired the college's Leadership Institute for many years.

60 SUNY Oneonta Students Attend Diversity & Leadership Conference

More than 60 SUNY Oneonta students faculty and staff participated in SUNY Oneonta's fourth annual Student Diversity & Leadership Conference on Feb. 21. The conference is organized by the college's Multicultural Student Council, Office of Student Diversity and Advocacy, and Office of Equity and Inclusion. In addition to the SUNY Oneonta participants, the conference drew attendees from the Oneonta community and neighboring colleges. Dr. Leigh-Anne Francis, SUNY Oneonta assistant professor of Africana and Latino Studies, presented the keynote address, titled "Surviving Whiteness in the Ivory Tower."

SUNY Potsdam Students Complete Fall 2014 Internships

Nearly 200 SUNY Potsdam students completed internship placements at companies, non-profits or campus departments in Fall 2014. SUNY Potsdam's internship program places students with employers whose interests align with their studies. Each student intern has a faculty sponsor, and earns between 1 and 12 credits toward their degree requirements.

SUNY Canton Students Earn Dean's List Honors

Students are being recognized for their outstanding achievement at SUNY Canton during the fall 2014 semester. "On behalf of the entire SUNY Canton community, I'd like to congratulate each of you on your academic success this semester," said SUNY Canton President Zvi Szafran. "We applaud the hard work and perseverance you've demonstrated to attain this special recognition." To receive Dean's List Honors, students must full-time students must earn at least a 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Students Organize Fundraiser for Food Pantry

Three SUNY Oneonta event planning students organized a benefit fashion show for a local food pantry on Dec. 5. Held at the Oneonta Elks Club, the event raised nearly $1,100 for the St. Mary's Food Pantry in Oneonta. More than 50 students were involved in the fundraiser, which included a pasta dinner prepared by food service and restaurant administration students, followed by a fashion show featuring 27 student models.

The Department of Theatre and Dance at SUNY Potsdam will present performances of original dance works by student choreographers from Dec. 6 to Dec. 8 on campus. Fourteen SUNY Potsdam students who are majoring or minoring in dance have created 20 dance works for the concert, which is entitled "Kaleidoscopic."
